The Task
CDP were engaged to refurbish the common areas landscape for 109 apartments. A major part of the role was to translate the concept of the design to the Owners Corporation Committee. The OCC were sufficiently impressed to extend the relationship to a full project management of the work staged over a two year period. The brief included: ensuring ease of pedestrian circulation throughout the site; the introduction of elements that emphasise the pedestrian scale adjacent to large built elements; to provide a resort type feel to the recreational areas; and to encourage greater use of the facilities by having a wider appeal.
Our Solution
The installation of the pergola provides a major link between the two areas, and the richness of detail and shading created by the perforated screens provides for a comfortable pedestrian environment, protection from the elements and a level of seclusion when viewed from above. Climbing structures on all boundaries help soften the hard edges with lighting playing a significant role in providing the mood and the indirect lumination adding to a resort type feel.
